There’s No Such Thing As Happy Endings

Deku has definitely on accident-purpose given One For All to Kacchan a few times over the years. This has caused a lot of “fuck kiss me dammit!” moments between the two of them a few minutes after Katsuki goes down on him or gives him a kiss. Izuku is better at not giving his quirk to his other partners.

(Mostly because Kacchan is the only one who knows).

But one morning, Izuku gives Katsuki One For All with a kiss and doesn’t ask for it back. He just… doesn’t know why, he has a bad feeling so just in case…

It starts as a normal day at work, everything is going well, but then…

It goes to hell. Everyone is called in, all around him, people are hurt and Izuku… he made his choice, and he’s glad for it even when he’s bleeding out underneath the rubble because he was able to save one more civilian. They got to live one more day and it sucks but he’s okay with how he’s going out.

He hears on the coms that everyone else is safe and One For All will continue. Kacchan will be a good 10th.

There’s yelling above him, rubble made weightless and shifting about; he can hear Ochako and Shouto and Tenya and…Kacchan.

He gets to hear them all one last time.

That’s good. He can definitely go happy. Ochako is able to make a big enough hole that Shouto and Katsuki can slide inside to get to him.

“DEKU!” They’re so worried, oh no. He didn’t want that.

Izuku tries to give them a wave but he’s too weak to do even that. “H-hey.” There’s a lot more yelling. Izuku has something to say though. “Ka-kacchan”

“Shut up nerd! You’re going to be okay, you’re-“

“I- I’m… gonna tell… Toshi-san… you’re the best 10th I… could have picked…”

“DEKU NO YOU DON’T FUCKING GET TO- DEKU!!”

The pro hero Deku is mourned across the country.

His class – his partners – mourn too but persevere. They have to – otherwise, what would the point be, in losing their #1 if they don’t protect what he gave his life for?

Ground Zero is more wild, more powerful, but the anger reminds the former classmates of the boy they met in first year rather than the man who he grew up to be.

Hitoshi, Eijirou, and Shouto stay with him, through screams and yelling and attacks, even when the blond tells them to fuck off & leave him alone. They’re there through anniversaries and reminders and they grow closer than anything would have imagined.

They’re all with him when shit goes pear shaped.

The mission was fucked up from the start, and by the end it’s obvious that they might not all make it home.

Katsuki, as mission leader, makes a choice and kisses Shouto square on the mouth, hands him a jump drive he keeps on a chain around his neck and gives his orders.

“Mind Freak, Icy Hot, get the fuck out, read that drive when you’re home, and keep it quiet. Riot… you make sure they make it out. I’ll finish this.”

The three protest but a look from the blond stops them. “You’re carrying something precious, Deku’s legacy so don’t fuck up.”

Then they go and leave Katsuki to finish the job. Winning is all he can do and he’s not going to stop just because the odds are against him.

So Katsuki wins.

And dies in a blaze of glory.

The others don’t get what happens until Shouto nearly destroys his left arm in frustration.

One for All has an 11th holder but Shouto never wanted this, he just wants his boyfriends back. But they both entrusted him with a special secret and he’s not going to disappoint. 

And if the time comes… he’ll pick the 12th with a kiss too.
