Another Long Drive
by yuuEuropop played quietly from the speakers, a gear shift dug into his side, the smell of sanitizer wipes and musk burned his nose, and Izuku could deal with all of these annoyances as long as Kacchan made that sound again. The blond had a death grip on the steering wheel with one hand while the other was buried in his hair, clutching at his curls, moaning, “Fuck, Deku, do that again.”
Izuku looked up, making eye contact even as he swallowed around Katsuki’s length. Kachan growled, tugging at the hair in his hand to tell Izuku to let up. He just grinned around the cock in his mouth before bobbing down more, taking more and more of Katsuki inside of him. The grip in his hair grew tighter the further down he went, enthusiastically sucking his boyfriend off. The noises he heard spurred him on even more, making Izuku want to take Katsuki in deeper and deeper. A particularly harsh tug, right as Izuku’s bottom lip kissed against Katsuki’s balls, was the only warning he got before cum was rushing down his throat. There wasn’t any choice. Izuku swallowed, pulling up carefully to not scrape his teeth over Katsuki’s dick. He licked at the head, delighting in Katsuki’s raspy moan, before moving off to sit correctly, basking in his own euphoria.
From the driver’s side, Katsuki huffed for a few moments, trying to catch his breath after what Izuku hoped was a mind-blowing orgasm. So it surprised Izuku when a calloused palm shimmied down his pants to grab at his soaked cock.
“Did you seriously cum from giving me a blowjob?” Katsuki asked incredulously as he pulled his hand out to inspect the cum lacing it. Izuku flushed, but couldn’t mutter anything out before Katsuki scoffed and tossed him a wipe from a pack they kept in the front. He pulled out one to clean off his hand, giving Izuku a fond look. “Clean yourself up, I’ll get things ready for sleep.” With that, Kacchan listened for a moment before opening the car door, giving himself room to adjust the seats and grab the blankets. Izuku did as he was told, tossing the used wipes into a bag as Katsuki came around the passenger side to fix his seat as well.
With the seats angled as far back as they could go and a thin blanket tossed over them, it was as peaceful as it could get.
“You know, you’re gonna choke yourself one day trying to shove my dick so far down your throat.”
That elicited a laugh out of Izuku. “But I enjoy it!”
Kacchan made a derisive snort. “What, you got some kinda kink for that?”
“So what if I do?” Izuku asked, trailing his hand up Katsuki’s arm, fingers featherlight against his skin. “It’s not like Kacchan knows about everything I did when you were gone.”
There was a pause before Katsuki turned so he could look towards Izuku directly, “Then why don’t you tell me about it, ha? What did I miss out on?”
“Only if you tell me something first.” Izuku turned as well so he could catch a glimpse of Katsuki’s face in the moonlight.
“Fine, fine,” Katsuki sighed, although Izuku could hear the smile in it. Whatever he was remembering must have been a pleasant memory, which he needed more of at the moment. “Well, it’s not so much a kink but— you know that gender doesn’t matter so much for me, I’m into people. But I somehow made my ex-girlfriend gay.”
“What? No way,” Izuku said with a laugh. He couldn’t imagine anyone falling out of love with Katsuki (although he could be biased, having held a torch for his childhood friend for so long).
“Seriously, my ex-girlfriend— we were on a date at this fancy restaurant down in Shinjuku for our six-month anniversary— she just straight out said: ‘Holy shit, I’m really not into guys, can we just be friends instead?’ And, mind you, she’s not quiet about this, so everyone in the fucking restaurant heard her break up with me! A girl at the bar even came by with tissues, thinking I was gonna cry my eyes out over it, too.”
Izuku snickered, imagining the scene Katsuki continued to paint as he described the food they had and the ‘not a date, just two friends hanging out’ they did after. It took a few minutes to get his giggling under control, but at Katsuki’s urging, he told his own tale. “Okay well, I have— I mean, I had a friend I met in university during our second year. We dated for a bit and he wanted to invite me to some event his parents were having for all his siblings and their partners. The place he drove us to looked familiar— an old home, with a koi pond to boot, but I didn’t say anything… And I continued to not say anything as he introduced me to his parents, who I had met with their partner at a club and had a really great one night stand with, and all three of his siblings. Who I’d had sex with within the last few years. One I even dated for a few months when I was still in highschool. Somehow, I had fucked everyone in his family except him. It was the most awkward family dinner I have ever been to, including the one time your mom was waiting for us to spill and tell her we broke that ugly vase that was in your hallway growing up.”
Izuku was prepared for laughter, but hearing Kacchan nearly choke on his snickers had Izuku breaking out into giggles as well at the sheer absurdity of the situation. They continued on, trading silly stories of bad dates and one-night stands, voices light as they reminisced about past partners and stupid shit they did in the years since Kacchan left. It was absolutely perfect until the radio sputtered into static. At that point, their laughter died off, both keeping quiet. The sounds of bodies shuffling past their car came soon enough, more than one certainly, but Izuku wasn’t willing to get up to see how many he could count in the night’s gloom. They didn’t speak again until the groans passed them by and the radio came to life again, and by that point, it was just a quick goodnight.
The next day started with a granola bar and sports drink a piece, although Izuku was still nursing his as they continued driving towards what they hoped was safety. The car radio was playing some older pop music, familiar idol groups with a smattering of American songs, although they were getting close to the prefecture line, so that meant a new station would need to be chosen soon. It was almost a pity. Whoever was running the pirate radio station in the area had some excellent taste, and there was no guarantee that there would be anyone running a station in the next prefecture.
Something was moving off the road a bit. Izuku clutched at the tire iron he kept on hand in case of emergencies, squinting, hoping to identify the shape. It was humanoid but couldn’t be a zombie— the radio hadn’t fizzled out into static, and if one was close enough for him to see through the morning gloom, it would be close enough to interfere with the radio waves. “Kacchan, someone’s out there,” he said, pointing out the figure.
“Yeah, there’s plenty of people out there, but that doesn’t mean we have to look into them all. You remember what happened in Kanagawa.”
Of course he would bring that up. It was a bitter realization that there were people who were not only selfish but more than willing to actively fuck others over in the apocalypse. “But what if they need help?” Even with that harsh lesson, Izuku didn’t want to leave anyone who they might be able to save.
Katsuki merely gave a sigh before he began maneuvering the car towards the person in the middle distance. To Izuku, that showed Kacchan wanted to help too— if he didn’t want to, nothing Izuku could say would have got him turning. It took a few minutes driving to come up to the highway oases the person was at, visible from the main road but far enough away that it didn’t get too much accidental traffic.
The figure ended up being a rather pretty woman with dark eyes and darker bangs in front of an SUV so bright red that Izuku was surprised he missed it while they were driving. She fidgeted, holding a slim pole as she watched them approach, understandably wary in such tumultuous times.
With the car parked several meters away— plenty of space in case she ended up being just as bad as the assholes they met before— Izuku rolled down the window and stuck his hand out, “Hi! I’m Midoriya, are you okay?”
There was a pause before she stiffly nodded. “Yaoyorozu. I was hoping someone would come by we, uh,” she made a motion towards her vehicle, “had an issue and ran out of gas.” Izuku gave a hiss of understanding; running out of gas between towns was a pain, but now? Practically a death sentence, as cars were the best places to stay hidden from zombies. Seeing the lack of other cars meant there was no way to siphon gas out of them and would have to, instead, make a harrowing trip on foot towards civilization. “If you’re willing to take me to get some, I’d be willing to…”
Izuku gave a pleading look over his shoulder; he needn’t worry though, Katsuki gave a scowl. “Don’t tell me some jackasses tried that with you. What kind of fucking sleazebags would think about getting their dick wet instead of being decent.” The blond turned the dial on the volume as he exited the vehicle, already popping the trunk. “Your truck uses regular, right? Sad to say, I can’t give you much, but I can at least get you enough that we can drive it to the nearest gas station and see about siphoning some out for all of us.”
Seeing Yaoyorozu tense, Izuku quickly popped his head back out the window to assure her. “We aren’t in the habit of forcing someone or holding out help. And we definitely don’t want to uh, do anything like that. Although if you have things to trade, it might be nice to take a look! We have some excess supplies and if you had extra, say, water, or jerky or something—”
His rambling was cut off by a screamed “Bakugou!?” Considering it was coming from inside the red SUV and across the overlook, the person inside must have screamed loudly. The passenger door popped open for a slightly shorter woman with light brown hair to look out, eyes shining.
Kacchan nearly dropped the gas can he was holding. “Holy shit, Angel Cheeks?”
Izuku and Yaoyorozu shared a look, equally confused.
The bubbly brunette— ‘Angel Cheeks’, Kacchan called her— laughed. “Still calling me that after all these years?”
“Yeah, well, you still look like a chipmunk with a face full of mochi, that hasn’t changed!” Katsuki sniped back good naturedly. He then gave an assessing look at Yaoyorozu, even as he walked towards the SUV. “That makes you Yaomomo, yeah?”
“Uh, yes? How do you know Ochako?”
“Oh honey, didn’t I tell you? This is the idiot who made me know I did not want to date a man ever again.” Ochako said with a laugh. She pulled Kacchan into a hug before taking the gas can from him, intent on filling up their tank. “And the cutie over there, green hair, eyes like emeralds, freckles like the stars— must be your precious Deku, huh?”
Izuku could only see the back of Katsuki’s body, which gave him the perfect view of the red flush on his ears. Kacchan had talked about him to his friends back in Fussa? Just the thought of it made Izuku heat up and he quickly waved his hands in an attempt to clear his mind of those kinds of thoughts.
But as the four of them started talking, getting to know each other, Izuku felt himself relaxing just a little bit more. It was a pleasant reminder that, even with the world gone to pieces like this, there was some goodness in the world, like watching two friends catch up.
Izuku watched Katsuki make a habit of raising the volume of the radio whenever he exited the car and that probably saved their lives. The cheery pop music that became background noise as they talked abruptly cut into a staticy whine, cutting conversation off. “Shit, cars now!” Kacchan barked, making them scramble for safety. Izuku didn’t even think twice, pulling Ochako along into their car, not wanting to chance her trying to sprint across the rest stop. From experience, there were different zombie types roaming around the country— some walked in shambling gaits that the average person could outrun with a light jog, while others could sprint 100 meters in under ten seconds, and you never knew what kind you were dealing with until it was too late.
Uraraka slid her way into the backseat, letting Izuku take the passenger when the first tell-tale hiss of undead could be heard. He closed and locked the door, looking out towards the treeline where zombies were coming from.
“Ponytail made it into your truck before the first biter came in sight,” Kacchan reassured, even as he turned down the radio so the static was nothing more than a background hum, all three of them watching as the undead loitered around them, searching for prey that were enclosed in relative safety.
It should have been awkward, sitting in a car with— his lover? boyfriend? childhood crush who he’s always had a candle for? his partner— and said partner’s ex. In reality though, everyone was just tense, flinching as careless hands banged at the sides of the vehicle. There were too many around them with more coming, and Izuku didn’t want to take their chances with driving through the crowd. Yaoyorozu and Uraraka’s SUV was large enough, probably, but he knew their city car was not up to mowing down dozens of undead.
“I know you said she’s okay, but it’s frustrating not hearing her say that.”
“Well, there’re ways to talk!” Izuku said instead, as he started rummaging through one of the bags at his feet.
“Like what? Cellphones aren’t going to work with them all around us, and even if walkie-talkies worked— which they don’t, we’ve tried that! —it’s a moot point because mine happens to be in my truck.”
It would be “Well, we’re going old school with this.” He handed her a spiral notebook and a colored marker.
“Ah, the old signs on windows trick,” Kacchan said sagely, “like we did when we had detention.”
“Excuse you,” Izuku said with a laugh, swatting Katsuki on the side, “you were in detention, I was in the library waiting for you to walk home.”
Uraraka took the offered items, even as he and Katsuki reminisced about their childhood, trading anecdotes and trying not to flinch at particularly loud growls from the other side of the thin glass.
‘Are You Okay?’
Uraraka’s bubbly writing filled the page; she left the notebook against the window, hoping her girlfriend would see it.
Izuku poked the brunette a few minutes later, pointing at the car. The undead meandered their way in the meters separating the two cars, but he could clearly make out the paper taped on the inside, an ‘OK ♡’ written in clear, crisp romaji. Uraraka responded to her girlfriend, and the two continued writing notes for several minutes, exchanging assurances they were both fine. Those assurances soon delved into full-blown conversation between the four of them, plastering notes in bold writing to be seen across the distance.
“How the fuck did you end up with a nerd too?” Katsuki asked, watching as Izuku and Yaoyorozu had a spirited debate over what started the zombie apocalypse via windows.
Uraraka shrugged, leaning into the duffel bag she was laying on top of. “I have a type— intelligence happens to be rather sexy; it’s why I stuck with you as long as I did, to be honest.”
Katsuki scoffed but didn’t deny it— that had been something the woman had appreciated while they were dating. “When we can move out, how about we all stick together?” he suggested.
“As long as you’re heading north— we’re heading back home to see how everyone’s shaping up.”
“Funnily enough, we are too.” Katsuki didn’t mention that they’ve been on a road trip for weeks that should have taken hours, that there might not be anything left by the time they arrive. Instead, he grunted and leaned back into his seat, intent on getting some shuteye.
Some time later, Katsuki jolted awake at a soft touch against his side. Twilight had fallen around them and the static on the radio had once again returned to pop music. Izuku gave his lover a fond look. “They’ve been gone for about fifteen minutes now, I’ll escort Uraraka-san back to her vehicle and we can see about getting some distance between us and that hoard before it gets too dark out.” He didn’t wait, already opening the passenger doro with trusty tire iron in hand as he and the woman walked across the few meters between cars. Less than a minute later, Izuku returned, softly smiling as he realized that Katsuki already had the car ready to move.
“How was the rest of your and Yaomomo’s conversation?”
“Pretty good,” Izuku replied with a hum, “and yours with Uraraka? You really okay with driving up to Fussa with them?”
“You heard that?” Kacchan asked, even as he started to change gears and stepped on the gas, headlights blinking on. “Yeah, I know Angel Cheeks, and while I never met her fiance before today, I know enough to know that they wouldn’t screw us over.”
They lapsed into a comfortable silence as they started driving back onto the main roads, hoping to make some headway before it got too dark to keep going, the red SUV following behind. Izuku placed his hand on top of Katsuki’s as he shifted gears, gently running his thumb over Katsuki’s knuckles. “I’m glad we found your friend Kacchan. I’m glad that we know that at least there’s more people we care about that are safe.”
Katsuki scoffed, light hearted, “Uraraka can handle herself, they would have been fine. But maybe we’ll get lucky and the next sorry SOBs we meet will be your family of fantastic lays, needing a new tire.”
“Kacchan!” Izuku flushed red, swatting playfully at the blond’s shoulder. “Don’t even joke about that, why did I tell you that!” All he got in response was snickers.
Katsuki’s response was a snicker before he added, calmly, “Cause you love me like that.”
Izuku flushed more, but he squeezed his hand over Kacchan’s, tossing him a smile. “Yeah, I guess I do love you.” Silence returned to the car, and the highway spread ahead of them, promising another long drive into the night.
