Chapter Index

a really quick ficlet set in an AU where Tomura leads the LOV and Izuku has a quirk that\’s not OFA and is a vigilante who works with heroes. Not sure if it will come up but Katsuki knows, disapproves of the lawbreaking but turns a blind eye because the two of them are effective.

Tomura stared at the mass of purple tinged fur in his fiancé’s arms. “Why did you bring this little monster here?”

Izuku’s answering snort did nothing to appease him, no matter how cute it was. “It’s not a monster,” the younger man said between chuckles, “it’s a chinchilla! It was one of the many exotic pets that was about to be confiscated in a hero raid but I lifted the poor girl first, isn’t that right.” The green haired vigilante proceeded to snuggle against the furry creature, cooing in delight at the nose kisses.

“So you stole evidence again? Isn’t your hand grenade going to be pissed?”

“What Kacchan doesn’t know won’t raise his blood pressure. Plus, it’s not like that guy had documentation for her.” Izuku said with a finality that told Tomura that, even if the animal was gotten from legal means, no hero would find that data anywhere.

“All right, what are you going to do with it then?”

“Well!” Oh no, Izu had elongated that word, he wasn’t going to like it, was he? “You’re going to need to look after her for a bit! I’ve got a day job to go to! And things to buy! Like a cage and play things… Oh, and dust baths, we can’t let the chinchilla get wet! And if you can think of a name for her, that would be great, okay?” The younger man didn’t even give him a chance to deny him, literally shoving the animal into his arms and heading out the door to whichever agency he was counseling at for the week.

Tomura carefully maneuvered the animal, making sure to not touch its body with all five fingers, despite the fact that he was wearing his gloves, getting a better grip. He raised it up, staring at its beady black eyes that stared back. “Well, fuck.”

As a villain who ruled his own villain empire, it meant he could take days off nearly whenever he wanted. Villainy was a 24/7 job, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t take breaks as he needed to and he… definitely needed to if he was going to have to babysit a furball and give it a name. Izuku was trash at naming things — he relied on the public to name his vigilante persona because everything he thought of either led to his identity too well or leaned too heavily on heroes, which led to being called The Rabbit — but it wasn’t like Tomura was much better. He used his preferred given name for villainy — convenient that all his paperwork still said Tenko on it — and was leader of the League of Villains because he couldn’t be assed to think of a better name. And they couldn’t go to their friends either since Kurogiri would likely name it after whatever mixed drink its fur looked like and Bakugou would give a stupidly ostentatious name like King Explosion Murder.

If Izuku had his way, the furball would have a hero pun as a name; they already had a hero shrine in the back of their home that Tomura was not allowed to touch, like hell he’d allow something to live in his home with a name like Small Might or Chinsom Riot or Uravichilla. Tomura placed the chinchilla on the floor, intent on getting his laptop to research possible names, when the creature nyoomed further into the depths of their home. For one moment, Tomura considered just letting it go, claim it escaped out the door and hope he was the one cleaning when it was inevitably found behind the fridge so he could destroy the evidence, but then he thought about Izuku’s teary face and how upset his fiance would be. With a sigh, Tomura went after the chinchilla, reminding himself that decaying it on purpose would invite more trouble and probably a week or more on the couch.

Hours later Izuku returned to his home, pockets full of marbles that held the various hay, food, cage, and materials to make chinchilla friendly play things. He’ll have to thank Sako-san later for the help. With a smile, Izuku slipped of his shoes, yelling “I’m home!” into the gloom. There was no response which… well, it wasn’t unusual, but he didn’t hear anything about Tomura going out from their friends… With quiet, careful steps, Izuku made his way further in, realizing that… their home was a mess, items were strewn around the floor with no rhyme, reason, or attempt

Then he made it to the living room and had to stifle a laugh. There on the couch, in the middle of the chaos, was Tomura, sleeping peacefully, the chinchilla curled up on his stomach, kept in place by one gloved hand. Izuku took out his phone to take a quick picture at the sight. He felt like there was a story behind this but he’ll ask that later. For now, he’ll just figure out something for them to eat.
